I am so excited about the upcoming Shoot and Share Photography classes! Thought I'd post a few of my favorite travel images... these are from a trip to Ireland, Olympic Park rainforest in Washingtom State and a sunflower field in South Dakota. Beach Photography Summer of 2010

Earlier this summer I had the peasure of photographing Sue Washam's grandchildren on the beach at Ocean Isle! The kids were great and the weather was perfect. What fun - and hard to believe there are SIX between the ages of 1 year and 12...... and that I photographed the mom's weddings.......wow. So fun to see family history! Thanks for the opportunity to see it happen!

The Art of Childhood

I love the classic look of this painting I did this summer of Amy Glosson's son! We photographed him at Squirrel Park and he is such a joy to work with. Amy had a lot to choose from, but decided this was the look she wanted to remember Connor at age 5. I am as excited about our result as she is!

Winona School

Even though the Winona School was in June, I thought it would be fun to post a few of the images I did in class. We photographed pregnant women - this was of one of the students from another class - she was a wonderful model and loved her images. We also photographed babies, toddlers and families. Special thanks to "Young Robert" for being a stand-in model when the class went out to look for available light (his dad - who was dubbed "Mature Robert" was a student in the class. All in all it was a fun week in a wonderful setting at Brown County State Park outside Indianapolis. Winona was the original weeklong photography class for professional photographers and this was the first year the school has been recreated since PPA moved to Atlanta some 15 years ago. It was an honor to teach there and my students were great! I am looking forward to the opportunity to teach another weeklong class - the time went by before we knew it.

Summer Fun

Wow - the summer is about to be behind us! OK, I 'm not the best about keeping up with my blog, but it has been a busy summer! I taught a weeklong class in Illinois about photographing children, had all 4 prints accepted into the PPA International print competiton (all I entered in NC PLUS my fav Korean Market scene), made many trips to the beach to photograph families, first week of August was East Coast School Photographic Workshops, and then judged and spoke at the Tennesee convention in Nashville. That makes a quick summer - now it's time to get caught up and gear up for the fall season!

YAY - the new website is officially launched! I am posting the images that I entered in the Professional Photographers of North Carolina print competition earlier this month and am so happy to say the these three not only hung in the exhibit, but won awards! It was exciting to do well among so many entries (over 400). I called the baby "Itsy Bitsy" (Honorable Mention - Children) and the painting "Wild Child"(3rd Place -Women). The soldier was an image I took on my trip to Beijing,China in 2007 - I called it "At Ease"(3rd Place - Men). Entering print competition keeps my work fresh - and I learn so much! I will be judging in Albany March 28 & 29 for Professional Photographers of New York State - can't wait to see what they are doing!
